Lisbon is a home away from home for me. I spent many months living here as a digital nomad, and it is a place I always keep coming back to. I have already given you another blog post on why you should add this vibrant city to your travel list. And in this one, I will tell you where to find the best food and drink spots!

It’s a beautifully simple toolkit for travellers who want to explore the world while staying deeply connected to themselves.

  1. Restaurante Vicente

Not far from Time out market (which I would only recommend for a stroll, the food is not the best and it is ALWAYS crowded) you will find this lovely restaurant. From burgers to steaks to even vegan options, this is one of my favourite restaurants in Lisbon. The atmosphere is very cosy. One thing I would say, but this is common in Portugal, the service might be slower than you like. This is kind of to be expected, life is a little bit slower here than in other places. Take this opportunity to slow down too and enjoy the moment!

  1. Linha d'Água

A cute (mainly) outdoor spot, further away from the city centre. If you go up to the view point through Eduardo VII Park, you will find this after crossing the street in the little park. On a nice, sunny day you can enjoy a cold drink sitting outside by the water (there is a pond). If you want you can have a little browse in El Corte Inglés afterwards. If where you live they don't have this department store, I would recommend going in, just for fun. If you go on the top of the building you get a view of Lisbon and lots of other food/drink options too!

  1. Fauna and Flora

Your typical brunch spot on holiday. The only two things you may struggle with is finding a table over the weekend mornings, and choosing from the menu. But there are a few of them scattered around the city so you will be able to find the one that works best for you, location wise.

  1. Pharmacia Chef Felicidade

A bar and restaurant that has a great outdoor seating area and an interesting cocktail menu. Given the name of the place, guests can choose from cocktails named 'Antidote' or 'Antivirus'. I would recommend visiting this in the evening, sitting outside with a nice cocktail to enjoy the view.

  1. Matchamama

Located in LX Factory (which is a fun place to visit anyway), you might as well pay a visit to Matchamama fusion restaurant too! I would recommend sitting outside in the beautiful garden, surrounded by banana and orange trees. Even in the winter months, this is one of my favourite places to visit because with an outside heater you can enjoy a good conversation and nice glass of wine.

  1. Leonetta

If you are craving Italian food, I would recommend this spot. Not far from the Botanic Garden, you will find this restaurant with great interior and menu. If you like truffle, I would also recommend trying the chocolate-truffle desert. I was hesitant at first, but it worked somehow!

  1. Seagull Method Cafe

This could not be a 'Where to eat and drink in Lisbon' list without at least one brunch spot. Probably my favourite brunch spot in the city. The queue is always long if you want to get a table here, but understandable why. It's quite a small place, so only wait in line for a table if you have spare time. But if you do wait your turn I promise the food, drinks and service will be worth the wait.

  1. Hotel Mundial Rooftop Bar

There are lots of rooftop bars in Lisbon that you can choose from, I like this one in particular because of its view of the castle. As you can see on the image below, this is a perfect viewpoint of both hills on the sides. Ideal for a nice little break for a drink between exploring.

  1. A Obra

If you are looking for a meal or drink near Green Street, I would recommend this spot. It is cozy, inviting little restaurant. Green Street is nice to visit during day and night, both have their perks, during the day time you will see the lush greenery, and in the evening the street feels very cozy with all the different bars and restaurants to choose from. The only thing to keep in my is to bring some cash, as last time I visited some of these places did not accept card.

  1. Olivia Lisboa

Another brunch spot that made it to the list! Olivia does not only offer an amazing food and drinks menu, but also has a very aesthetically pleasing interior. It is not located right in the city centre so you might have to walk or take an Uber, but in return this maybe less touristy than other places.

  1. House of wonders

Okay, not exactly in Lisbon, but if you end up visiting the little town, Cascais nearby, you might want to have some delicious plant-based food in the House of wonders. I took friends and family here and everyone was pretty impressed! If you feel like your diet could do with some fibre, this is the place to be. Lots of plant based, vegetarian and vegan options to choose from.

  1. Quintal das Docas

If you venture out to the famous bridge and get hungry or want to sit down for a tea or coffee, I would recommend Quintal das Docas. It has a great view of the river and a little port area, perfect in sunny weather, but you can also stay inside if the skies aren't that blue.

This 2-floor cafe/restaurant doesn't only have great food and drinks to offer, but also has an incredible atmosphere. With both indoors and outdoors seating, you can enjoy a cozy and green environment. The whole building is filled with plants, you will find it easy to relax and enjoy the moment. For digital nomads, this makes a perfect work spot!

+1: If you feel like shopping and want to pair it with a gourmet experience, El Corte Inglès can be the right choice. This multi-level department store will be a fun experience anyway, and the top floor is filled with restaurants, a gourmet market, and a variety of culinary products from Portugal and around the world. So, you can not only try local food, but also shop for souvenirs.

There we go, 13 of my favourite food spots in the wonderful city of Lisbon. I hope you enjoyed this post or found it useful for your next adventure.
