When it comes to traveling, Vietnam is my Roman Empire; I definitely think about it daily. So far, I have visited this wonderful country twice, but I already know I will be back again! From the landscapes through the food to the people of this country, I am a big fan and advocate for it all. I think this is a country that everyone needs to experience once in their life, and a place I would recommend to solo travellers too!

  1. Hoi An Memories Show

Hoi An is a charming and absolutely magical place on its own. With its small and inviting little streets and beautiful colours, you will fall in love instantly! And if you want to learn more about this magical place, you can buy a ticket for the Memories Show, which is a large-scale, outdoor performance that invites the viewer to discover the history and culture of Hoi An. The music, the costumes, the stories will only help you admire Hoi An and its culture even more!

  1. Shopping, but make it tailored

Still in Hoi An (although traveling through the country I did see lots of other options elsewhere too, but easily accessible in Hoi An specifically), this is your opportunity to spend some money on clothing, but this time get them made specifically for you! And for reasonable prices. Hoi An specifically is known for its tailors, who work not only really well, but also really fast. Most of these tailors have specific designs; you just need to pick a colour and get measured. Most clothes are easily done in 1-2 days. If you find someone who is willing to make something based on your own designs or ideas, it is also possible. Although this may cost you a little more.

  1. Find your favourite kind of coffee in Ho Chi Minh city

Okay, I am going to start by being really honest: if you are short on time, Ho Chi Minh is not a must-see place in Vietnam. If you are already planning a visit to Hanoi, you will experience the big city vibe anyway. But if you happen to travel to Ho Chi Minh City, I would definitely pay a visit to The Coffee Apartments. This multi-level building is home to multiple little coffee shops, plenty to choose from. An ideal spot for coffee lovers!

  1. Da Nang beach

If you're planning a visit to Hoi An, you are likely to travel to or through Da Nang. The beach has undergone a massive upgrade in the past few years, and I think it is giving Miami, without the price tags though. If you want to add one or two relaxing beach days to your itinerary, Da Nang beach is the place to do it. There are plenty of things to do and see around Da Nang, but I think the beach alone deserves a day!

  1. Discover Hanoi on a bike

No, you don't need to drive! Just call a Grab (super cheap), opt for a motorbike and pick a destination that is likely to go through the city's more busy and touristy areas. I know in the heat it may seem like a better idea to call a car with an AC, but I can promise you, the temperature is much better once you're on the bike and move. And this is sort of a local experience. Most people get around on small bikes, so exploring the city this way is like immersing yourself in the lifestyle.

  1. Admire the rice fields in Sapa

One of my favourite backdrops of all time is the rice field views in Sapa. To reach this destination, you will need to take a longer trip from Hanoi, but it is definitely worth it if you appreciate mountain views. Walking around this area feels like you are in a movie. If you crave some nature time after a few days in busy Hanoi, add Sapa rice terraces to your list!

  1. Climb to the peak of Mua Cave

In my opinion, this view was even more breathtaking than seeing Halong Bay in real life. It was actually something I wasn't expecting to be so beautiful, and I can tell you, taking those stairs in the heat and humidity is no fun, but oh my, was it so worth it!

As you can tell, I am a big advocate for Vietnam. I think it is a great destination for anyone who loves good food, breathtaking views, and great hospitality. I hope that my tips and recommendations made you consider it as your next destination!
